13.1

I DID IT!! I can now check off "running a half marathon" from my bucket list! My sister Missy and I ran the Utah Valley Half Marathon in Provo last weekend!

We started off with a little "Carb Loading" at The Pizza Factory. Once we got there we realized the only reason we love that place is for the SALAD bar!!, not exactly carb loading. But yes, we still choked down some pasta and salad and breadsticks!

We had to catch a bus at our hotel at 3:30 AM so we could get up to the start of the race. This is a pic of us right before we left! It was so early, we were so tired... It was one of those feelings that you are so tired you are hyper and almost delirious. It was fab! :)

The start of the race was up Provo Canyon, right above the Sundance turnoff. Given we had to be there at 3:30 AM, it was still dark and SO cold! So we entertained ourselves by taking pictures of us and trying to huddle into complete strangers so we could feel the fire.

My SO sweet sister-in- laws and mother-in-law followed me all the way down University Avenue for probably about 5 or 6 miles taking pictures and holding up signs! It was so sweet... definitely kept me going when I wanted to stop a few times!

I FINALLY crossed the finish line at 2 Hours 17 Min! Honestly, it didn't seem that long at all, it was probably one of my best runs ever thus far. Only crappy thing -- I crossed the finish line at the same time as the first "Marathoner" (Pathetic, I know) so my family totally missed me! They didn't even know that I had finished!! So luckily I had my phone, which I had been listening to music on during the race, so I called and found my family so I could finally celebrate finishing with someone!

My sister wasn't too far behind me, so we stood by the sidelines anxiously awaiting her arrival!

The kids were so good! So content - Thank Heavens!

My sister finished at 2 Hours 49 Minutes!

I ran to greet her at the finish line and totally started crying! It was a proud moment for both of us, we were so happy to have finished and reached our goal that we had been working so hard on. Didn't matter the finish time -- WE DID IT!

We had such an awesome support system there to cheer us on! Our Dad and other sister, Jill, came...

and of course the husband and the kidddos!

And my amazing in-laws joined us as well!

We did it! We did it! We did it!!

What an amazing experience! It was a total blast, I loved it!! I was so nervous at the beginning but after I got started I just got in my zone, turned my music up, and away I went! I'm so glad I decided to do it! Thanks to my amazing hubby and sweet little Claire. I seriously couldn't have done this without you. You sacrificed so much time and effort to make sure I got my runs in everyday, I owe you! Thanks again! I am already totally addicted -- Now onto the Snow Canyon Half in St. George in November - anyone wanna join?? :)
