Deer Hunt

Not sure what I was thinking -- actually, I probably wasn't, when I agreed to go on the Deer Hunt as pregnant as I was (9 months). Within the family, we had 3 deer tags to fill so we decided to start our own family tradition, make a "Montague Camp" and all hunt together. None of those tags belonged to Jacob or I, so we were just along for the ride.

Here is the fabulous caravan up the mountain. Jacob and I are in front in my Grandpa Pete's 78' Chevy and camper shell that's even older then that. Promise, at times, we were topping out at 10 MPH. That truck is a champ, especially with the shell on it, but there were definitely times I thought it was gonna die on us. Luckily it didn't, Grandpa would be proud!

After what seemed like years, we arrived at camp and got all set up! I talked a lot of crap on that camper, and still do because it's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it sure kept us warm and kept me having to potty in the woods every hour.

The first day out on the hunt no one got anything. We only saw a few, but nothing worth shooting at. We did a lot of driving and looking!

When we set out bright and early that morning, I didn't realize we would be gone all day. So I was one hungry pregnant lady. Luckily everyone else had brought snacks, apparently they got the memo, so I didn't starve! The weather was so nice we had to break mid day and remove layers!

Every one of the siblings and their spouses was able to make it on the hunt, making it that much more fun. We don't get to do many things like this without kids, so we were all soaking it in!

After hunting for over 12 hours the first day, riding in the car over the bumpiest roads I've ever seen and not eating real food all day -- I was exhausted! The next day everyone went back out again, but I was way too sore, so Jacob and I stayed back.
Here are my fabulous camo, deer hunting bibs. Wearing these over my huge belly makes me look like I'm 300 lbs.

(Isn't the inside of the camper fabulous? I told you it was older than Moses and a beauty!)

At the end of the deer hunt, all 3 tags had been filled! I'm so glad we started such a fun tradition that we will hopefully be able to carry on for years to come! Love my in-laws!
